Very branded joint with pink pigs everywheeereee. Killer cones here, but bring cash and bring a LOT of it! Bring your girlfriend here, because if she finds about this place after you've rolled through, you're in trouble :P

Ah-mazing! So good! The decor is so cool! So many flavors it's hard to decide! We had the cheesecake cone. The half scoop was a great size.
(5)Amanda B.
This place is so much fun with a old-fashioned decor! I feel like a little kid in a candy shop...literally... they have a candy shop in addition to the ice cream! GREAT customer service, tons of flavors that are made locally and can't get anywhere else, they even give free vanilla ice-cream with a bone on top for your pup! My specialty=New York Cherry + Pistachio! The best ever!

Love Oinks ice cream! You can easily run out of things to do in New Buffalo but I recommend ice cream at Oinks, a visit to Hesston steam museum, and a trail or pony ride at Stateline Stables (everything is within 8 miles of each other)
(5)Manny G.
This spot is a MUST-visit anytime I'm out in Harbor Country. The building is so small & charming, with old school ice cream ingredient containers & scoops everywhere. You really get the feeling this place has been there for ages. The ice cream itself? You can practically taste the love that goes into it. Nothing tastes artificial or cheaply made. I still dream about their chocolate cake batter. And don't be intimidated by the long lines, it's well worth it & moves surprisingly fast. Also, hit the ATM beforehand. Oink's is cash only.

Growing up, I used to love coming here with the family. Nothing beats a scoop of frozen ice cream on a hot summer's day. My most recent visit, reminded me why it's been a while since I've stopped by here. As soon as we walked in the door I felt like I had walked into a circus or a zoo. On one side of the glass, children with their noses pressed up to the glass so you can't even see the flavors; on the other side of the glass, an abundance of underworked, bored employees. There is no organization here. The attempted system is simple, in theory- you take a number and place your order when called. Sounds easy enough, right? If there was any room to see all of the flavor options available, and you didn't have to weave between screaming, whiny children just to maybe place your order while trying not to lose the employee taking your order, this would work. There's just too much going on; this place is a mess. Squeezing a few seats in here doesn't help either.... Now for the ice cream itself.... Overpriced and nothing special. For the $5 I paid for one scoop of Moose Tracks, I could have paid $1 more and gotten 1.5 quarts at the grocery store just down the road. They went all-out with the pig theme- from the parking lot, to the decor. It's a quaint little tourist trap, but that's about it. If you've got a lot of cash (they don't accept plastic; cash or checks only), nostalgia, and are looking for a scoop, this place is for you. Otherwise, you'd be better off checking out one of the other local ice cream shops, or hitting up the ice cream section of the local grocery.

I've got nothing but love for this New Buffalo gem. The ice cream is so good. My favorite is the Yellow Cake Batter, served up in a waffle cone. Price is a little bit on the steep side, but this is quality ice cream and often times you get what you pay for. Definitely a must stop when you're in New Buffalo.
(5)Michael J.
This is the place to get awesome ice cream and yogurt in various flavors and to enjoy the the piglife while doing it. Oink...oink! Ice cram is good they have stuffed animals with lots of them little piggies all over the place. The service is great. The ice cream is awesome. A must go to when your in the area!!! Everybody loves Oinks!
(5)Ekta S.
Tons of options! Definitely a great spot for locales. The decor is quaint and they have cute tables and area outside to sit. Definitely a stop if u r in the area
(5)Sam P.
I wish I could pack Oink's in my suitcase to take home from vacation. Went here twice during our one week visit, and enjoyed it immensely each time. Love the ice cream scoopers decorating the ceiling, and best of all, the number system for ordering. Similar to a deli counter, don't forget to grab a number on your right when you come in the door. There is a bathroom for customers, as well as indoor and outdoor seating. The only room for improvement that I can think of is that the menu was a bit unclear/hard to read. It looks like it has been the same for decades, so maybe that could be modernized a bit. Ice cream like this is hard to find! If it's not super busy, ask for samples so you can try more flavors.
(5)Rick B.
Great ice cream place with a décor that is hard to describe. Oink's has piggy stuff all over the walls and windows. Over the years the owners collected pig salt and pepper shakers, pigs driving cars, model pigs, pig games ... you get the idea - it is pig-a-mania. And that is the reason it is named Oink's. But for just ice cream, this is a nice stop. One of the nice things about this place is the number of offerings - usually at least two dozen flavors. Mix and match brings the possibilities off the wall. We usually go here after getting a hamburger at Redamak's Tavern down the street. The sweet at Oink's balances the salty at Redamak's. This visit our threesome had New York Cherry and Cotton Candy Confetti...Chocolate...and Peppermint Stick and Mint Chocolate Chip. There are a few tables inside and outside, so you can eat where the weather fits. They also have a fudge store connected to the ice cream building. The owner also has a 1929 vintage car stored in the garage behind the store - the garage door is usually open so you can peek in at the antique. All-in-all this is a fun stop on a round the lake tour or just on a weekend drive to New Buffalo.
(4)Erin Y.
Great little place with a retro feel! Good ice cream and a big selection of flavors. They don't accept cards but there is an ATM located right inside the shop. I paid $5 for a waffle cone that didn't have a particularly big portion of ice cream, so I'd say it's a little overpriced. However, it's good quality ice cream and worth a try! Plenty of options for everyone to find something they'd like.
(3)Bonnie B.
Well the ice cream is good. I feel very ripped off. One scoop of ice-cream is $5.50 for a waffle cone. To take a family of 5 out for ice cream is over $30 if you only have 1 scoop. It's not like it's hormone free ice-cream or even organic. New York and Chicago have better ice cream and more reasonable. What happened to being able to afford to take your children out for a ice cream. Oinks, shame on you. There is a different ice cream place across from Rosie's-we will be going there. You are greedy and have taken advantage of the American Family.
(2)Carrie R.
Fun experience. It was packed so we grabbed a number. Very efficient. Ice cream was quite good.
(5)Amanda C.
Coolest place ever!!!!! It's a must if you're in the area. The ice cream is absolutely delicious. So many flavored to choose from. Love the piggies everywhere!!! Even the bathroom is cute!!! Anytime I'm in the area im stopping in!!!
(5)Renita M.
A great little small town ice cream stand. Lots of flavors, friendly service, the walls are covered in ice cream memorabilia and pig doodads. I was highly amused to see how nutritious ice cream was considered back in the day. But darned if my salted caramel wasn't delicious. Cash only. Small parking lot next to it but it's also an easy walk from the beach. Also, I apparently missed the candy store in the back. So, there's something to look forward to for next time.

Ice cream is a weakness for me. We were looking for a place to stop on our road trip to stretch our legs and found this place in town. Not really hungry for a meal ice cream seemed to be the best solution for the grumbling going on down below. Erica was the person behind the counter when we visited and could not have been more helpful with our selections to satisfy our needs. Then my wife decided she had the urge to shop in there little gift shop and was told it did not open till 3pm but would open up just for her to look around. It was worth it for them as she did find something to buy. If you get a chance to visit New Buffalo and want ice cream this will be the place to go. While you are there check out the nostalgic collection of memorabilia that surrounds you.
(5)Zaneta N.
Stopping by at Oinks has become our yearly summer tradition. We can't keep ourselves from stoping here after a day away at Warren Dunes (just couple miles further if your driving from Chicago). This place is a major blast to the past. They even have the DeLorean DMC-12 in the garage from "Back to the future!" The old style and pig themed decor will make you smile. Their ice cream flavor variety is gigantic and the taste never disappoints. They only take cash so prepare to make a stop at the ATM somewhere in town if you don't have any on you. Ps. If you are craving fudge. They're got that too on the other side of the building. Tip: They work on the "number system" you grab a number when you walk in and they call it & ask you what you want. Check out the selection first and THEN grab the number. Otherwise they'll call your # and you won't be ready.. Or you'll choose a flavor and then later see another one you missed and might've wanted to try more. At least that always happened to us.
(5)Erin D.
This place is cute and eclectic and fun to go to but the ice cream isn't really that good.
(3)Ruth P.
Tried Oink's for the first time last night. Very neat decor & atmosphere. The ice cream was good, but scoops were smaller than other ice cream shops I have been to like this. And they did give my sister-in-law the wrong flavor. All-in-all I would visit again because I thought it was a fun place to stop for ice cream.
(4)Kerrie A.
We have been coming to Oinks for years and we were very disappointed this past weekend. They have apparently cut the costs by raising the prices and shrinking the scoop size. Sorry Oinks but we will be trying somewhere else.
(1)Mary Ann C.
Wow! So, so cute with old fashioned ice cream memorabilia, antique pigs, and several cases of ice cream. The servers were friendly to our large group. The ice cream was tasty, and I really liked my chocolate cherry ice cream in a cookie bowl. Super yum! Kids all loved their choices. We will return!

After hiking around Warren Dunes State Park one early spring after noon, the family was hungry for some ice cream. We decided to head into New Buffalo, as we knew there were several ice cream joints in the quaint little downtown. Much to our dismay, being a Sunday afternoon in mid-March, many of the local shops were not yet open for the season or were just closed. Then, lo and behold, we found Oink's. It was a beacon of shimmering light in the sleepy little tourist town... This neat little ice cream shop is decked out with lots of pig parafanalia and old ice cream shop decor with a slight soda fountain type feel. There were more than enough flavors to choose from and the ice cream was actually really good; my toddler son got a child scoop of Superman while my husband and a I split a dish of two "full scoops,"one French Silk and one Cherry Amaretto Cordial... However, the total was $9.20 which was a little more than we wanted to pay, and its not like the portion was anything special. Overall, a decent experience but just make sure you are willing to "dish" out a little extra money... And make sure you bring cash or check as they dont accept cards.
(4)Teresa P.
What are we not seeing?! My husband and I used to look forward to this guilty pleasure, but I'm more and more disappointed each time we stop in. A few bad experiences spoiled it for us and we will NOT be returning EVER again. #1 The selection of ice cream is great, but what do they have their freezer set to?? The ice cream literally melts immediately upon serving and don't even bother enjoying the outdoor seating because this will surely create a sticky mess. #2 The oinks staff (by the way there are about 20 of them standing around behind the counter) needs to return to kindergarten to relearn the golden rule. Please don't stand around and socialize with your friends while I'm waiting for you to finish talking about what you did last night. I'm sure it was really important though. There are paying customers who prefer not to have to flag you down for your attention, thank you very much. These teens need to be more kind and helpful. #3 Overrated, overpriced, and not worth the experience (see #2) #4 They accept check or cash only. Thank you for inconveniencing your customers so you can add a few zeros to your annual profit. I had to run out to my car to grab a check because we didn't carry enough cash (yeah, this is the 21st century and we appreciate conveniences). Alright, I'm jumping off my soapbox now and this little piggy will be staying home on the couch with a single serving of Häagen-Dazs!!!
(1)Carolyn L.
This was my last stop on the Indiana/Michigan tour. And it was tasty! It was packed but I was served really quickly so that was awesome. I ordered a regular waffle cone with a yellow cake batter ice cream scoop and a chocolate peanut butter scoop. They were to die for and perfect on a hot day. My friend got the salted caramel and blackberry scoops. Very filling and left a perfect memory as we struggled home through the heavy traffic!
(5)Li C.
Oinks has awesome decor but their prices are super expensive and their ice cream portions are small. Ice cream was also stale and the staff are indifferent (at best). Was disappointment because I was sooo looking forward to Oinks.
(3)Dave S.
I love me some good ice cream. If you share my love, than you would really enjoy what they dish out here as i did. They have a good variety of flavors to choose from. It is really a shame that I don't live closer. Once again the ice cream is fantastic the decor is very cool and eclectic.the girl who took care of us did a good job. Overall the entire staff seemed extremely sullen for some reason. Maybe they were a bit disgruntled maybe they were just not anticipating how busy it was going to get on a warm summer day. Did I mention that hey have amazing ice cream.
(4)Rachel L.
Quaint place with cool decor. Big selection of ice cream. We had the birthday cake flavor & the chocolate cake batter. Pretty decent ice cream. Cool experience all around. Bring cash. If you ain't Dutch you ain't much.
(5)Anne M.
Cash only. Grab a number as soon as you walk in. Scoops are big. Two half scoops are like one big scoop. Chocolate Covered Pretzel is awesome!!
(5)Pete S.
Very nostalgic! Have antiques everywhere. Even have a DeLorean in the side garage. The inside of the store takes you back to the 50's & 60's. Good luck picking out a flavor of ice cream. The have a whole bunch to choose from. I'm old fashioned. I had vanilla and rocky road. The texture was more creamy than icy. It was good but I prefer icy. Wife had coconut almond fudge and rocky road. She really liked hers. We were just passing through but if we are back in the area, we would come back.
(4)Brooke ..
Crazy busy!!! A little too pricey for ice cream.....a waffle cone and small dish shouldnt cost $11......too high!!!
(3)Ericka A.
I made a pig of myself at Oink's! I somehow managed to miss that the candy shop is separate from the ice cream parlour, so I feel I missed an integral part of the Oink's experience and vow to return. I feel that I can only give a partial account, but I can say that the ice cream itself is worth the stop. The two flavors I tried (bubblegum and chocolate-peanut butter) were great and I would have loved to have eaten many more. They have a number system, but I managed to miss that as well and just walked to the counter. No one else was in the shop when I came in and the young girl working asked if I knew what I wanted, but I hadn't even browsed yet. I took a look around and asked about Superman. The guy working could not identify the flavor and simply described it as "a bunch of flavors." I sampled it and can tell you it was incredibly disgusting. However, the bubblegum was perfect (and didn't include pesky mint, which always ruins it) and the chocolate-peanut butter came with huge ribbons of delicious PB. I requested both flavors in a waffle cone. They automatically filled it with 2 massive scoops. They cost about $10 total and were well worth it. The waffle cone was fresh, flavorful and wound around itself so well that a napkin was not needed. It never once dripped a drop of this delicious dessert.
(4)Adam K.
Good old fashioned ice creams for the chirrins. Get yourself a nice big old cotton candy candy like I did. For 3 seconds your life makes sense.
(5)Erika C.
Ridiculous. Huge amounts of delicious ice cream. Personal favorites: Cotton Candy, Birthday Cake, Blue Moon; always in a waffle cone. Be wary, weight conscious travelers, one waffle cone could throw your dietary goals into Lake Michigan and drag you into the undertow with them. Rejoyce in your baptismal rebirth into a larger pants size. Make sure to grab a number as soon as you arrive. The lines move with watchmaker precision A great option for the indecisive: even in a small cone you can split your scoop between 2 flavors. Also, unlimited small spoon samples. We have never left New Buffalo without eating at Oinks and we never will. Yumm.
(5)Kevin G.
I am a firm believer in asking what a number one seller is for a food establishment. If people keep ordering an item, IT MUST BE GOOD, RIGHT?! Oinks is known for their Mint Chocolate Chip. I had a small cup of vanilla, just so my little 10 month old baby girl could try a bite. She loved the vanilla, but I don't think she would have cared what it tasted like :) The mint chocolate chip was really good! I would go back and have it again :) This place was busy when we pulled up, busy the entire time we were there, and busy when we were leaving. Everyone seemed happy and everyone seem to love what they were eating. The decor is a little corny, with pigs everywhere, but the atmosphere is fun and a great place to bring your family :)
(5)Kitty W.
My whole family loves this place. I remember when it opened when I grew up in the area. Now I take my kids here whenever I'm back home! It's very busy, but the line moves quickly. Service has always been good, mostly college kids. We try to go not right after dinner so that we can get a seat. I don't feel that Oink's is expensive, because the quality is great and you get a lot of ice cream. The place itself it very cute. We love the piggies everywhere.
(5)Dan G.
Eat the pig, eat the pig. Ziggy, ziggy, ziiggy zig. Oink's may just be the most popular spot in New Buffalo, and for good reason. They've got some great ice cream. So, wait out the line of families and decide on what flavors you'll be having. You can take your snack for a walk and check out the local trinket shops or just chill on the patio and watch the speedy Red Arrow Hwy traffic whip by. Only wish they had more low fat and froyo options.
(4)Shradha A.
Although anyone who knows me would claim that choosing from 64 flavors of ice cream is pretty close to the top of my list of favorite holiday events, the chaos called oink's makes it less than that. This place has a take-a-number system instead of lines, which means everyone is shouting over everyone and no one is in any sort of order. Too many people pushing and shoving to get to the front to see the ice cream and pick their flavor and those who already have theirs, adding to the crowd by standing around in this tiny place.
(3)Sam C.
The ice cream was good both times I went. The coconut almond fudge(almond joy) was rich and chocolatey. The yellow cake butter was good, a little sweet but still good. The waffle cone was crisp and delicious both times as well. If you like rich, hard ice cream this is your place.
(4)Buddha B.
Average ice cream at high prices. The servers try to be friendly but the constant rush of people seems to wear them down. Had a great chocolate shake (super thick) but took 5min to make it. If you're heading up to St Joe's, Kilwin's ice cream is much, much better.
(3)Rodger W.
Simple review. The no sugar added flavors Butter Pecan and Cherry Vanila are actually good, and will keep you on the wagon if you need to be.
(4)Ben B.
** As of June, 2014, they are open 11-11. Yelp's listing is wrong. ** Fantastic ice cream? Yes! Odd obsession with pigs? Yes! Fast service? Yes! Middle of nowhere? Yes! Seriously, wall-to-wall pig-related items? Yes! Your only reason to avoid Oink's Dutch Treat is if you have some sort of swine phobia and if you hate delicious ice cream. (I don't know why people are complaining about the price. $3 for a cone is reasonable. Especially for... Milky Way ice cream!)
(5)Leslie L.
The Sherman's ice cream is not the only reason to come out there!! The kitch decorations are awesome! So much fun stuff to look at while you are waiting or eating your treat!! A scoop of ice cream is HUGE here so if you have a tiny tummy you might want to get a half scoop. I get the full scoop because I'm a ice cream addict and will eat till I'm sick!! The ice cream is great and the place is great for kids or those young at heart. The workers are really friendly and the place is clean, what more can you ask?
(5)Megan S.
This is a nice place go get some ice cream but not when there is a line of 40 people in front of you. Went to saugatuck last weekend and they had the same exact ice cream... No surprise. However, it is good ice cream.
(3)Angie S.
I'm disappointed after visiting Oink's, and it's just the most adorable place! We walked around the property admiring all the piggy kitsch, then we got our ice cream. The service was very nice, I was allowed two flavors as one scoop, but the praline pecan was not so great, and I enjoyed the maple bacon because it had a really nice flavor, but imitation bacon bits? Meh. My husband had a sundae with luscious hot fudge, but the nuts were totally spoiled and stale. Boo. Better luck next time.
(2)Joy E.
Huge, HUGE ice cream!
(5)Andy S.
Oink's is DELICIOUS....let me repeat DELICIOUS!!! The only reason this place is not deserving of 4 stars is the price. I will say their portions are large so if you are going to get something get the kid size which is plenty of ice cream. The ice cream is very creamy and the number of flavors can be dizzying in a good way. It can be hectic in there sometimes, but what place with DELICIOUS food is not. The staff has always been really friendly to me. Looking forward to our next visit.
(4)Food Nazi A.
WOW!!! Took a nice little getaway to New Buffalo recently before Labor Day weekend and had to research a great local place to have ice cream, and this place had it all!! The exterior and interior have that old time kitschy feel you would remember from that childhood ice cream joint from the town you grew up in or from the era of your parents childhood. The inside had little pig trinkets and toys all over making it such a fun atmosphere which reflected the owner and the history behind Oink's. The ice cream was absolutely delicious and they give you a good sized scoop for your cone, which I high recommend you get in a chocolate dipped waffle cone!!! Attached is their candy shop which also reflects the ice cream store's atmosphere and fun appeal. The smells alone are enough to make you want to hog it up on their delicious treats. The fudge was so delicious and can't wait to go back and get my hands on some of their other chocolate treats! They even sell some rather interesting shot glasses you should add to your shot glass collection if you're a collector of glasses. A definite must stop if you're in or around New Buffalo and will instantly be a place for repeat visits!!! Be sure to bring cash, they don't accept credit cards.
(5)Sandra M.
Can't set foot in new bufallo without having to stop here for ice cream. The kids have their favorite flavors and I have mine in their waffle cones. We usually sit around and finish our ice cream before getting back in the car, so the kids always seen to make new friends. It's easy to chit chat with other families and enjoy the beautiful evening weather. It can get a little crowded with log lines sometimes depending on what time you're there.
(5)Dominic R.
stopped in here on our Family Vacation to New Buffalo! Like the Griswold's we all piled in and ordered some Ice Cream........the exterior has an old fashioned look to it, the inside is loaded with trinkets! As far as the ice cream goes, it was good. The workers were very helpful and eager to take our order. We then sat outside and enjoyed our delicious summer treat before heading back to the Lake House. Yum!
(4)Ashley M.
THIS PLACE IS A MUST-STOP WHEN YOU GO TO NEW BUFFALO! I have never been disappointed with any of the flavors and their servers are very attentive. I want to go back right now. I can't wait!
(5)Josh Z.
I love New Buffalo, and there is no better place to get ice cream in New Buffalo, than Oinks. First thing to do is grab a # and wait in line. The line goes fast and there are plenty of flavors to choose from. I always get a waffle cone. The interior is lined w/ pig decor and ice cream scoops. There is a fudge and candy shop in the rear. Remember CASH ONLY! Sherman's Ice Cream!
(5)Bella D.
Came here tonight. They serve Sherman's Ice Cream, which is great. I was pleasantly surprised they offered chocolate peanut butter ice cream (chocolate ice cream with real peanut butter in it and not the Reese's chunks)! I LOVE chocolate peanut butter ice cream! Totally cute atmosphere. I loved it.
(5)Mike K.
You have two dining options for Oink's. You can opt for a dinner of ice cream in the front, walk it off going to the candy shop in the back, where you can continue to work it off checking out the trinkets and then pick up your dessert of malted milk balls from the candy selection. Or, I suppose, you can go the opposite route and work up an appetite looking at the trinkets in the shop in the back, dine on candy for dinner, walk it off heading to the ice cream shop in the front and then have your ice cream dessert. It works either way. And it's five stars either way.
(5)Taryn T.
BIRTHDAY CAKE BATTER ICE CREAM - YESSSSSSSSSSS! This place is a few blocks off the main drag and the line may look long from the outside, but trust me - it's worth it. Just do it. DO IT. My two favorite ice cream flavors are birthday cake batter and a toffee/caramel/chocolate one, but they have so many flavors and frozen yogurt options, too - you will definitely find something you like. I also recommend treating yourself and getting a scoop or two in a waffle cone - especially if you only plan to come here once! You have to take a ticket when you step inside, but they have a ton of kids working there and the line moves fast. Hands-down the best ice cream I have ever had!
(5)Oscar the Death Cat B.
I can't find many bad things to say about Oink's, I planned to visit once just to say I had been there, ended up returning three more times before I left town. I've always liked Shermans ice cream, and as busy and cramped as they are, I never had to wait very long once I took a number (but then again, I never tried to visit during their peak summer weekend hours, so maybe I was just lucky). Also checked out their candy shop, unless you are really into jelly beans or tacky souvenirs I would say don't bother, just stick with the ice cream.
(4)Brian G.
Three words: Over-priced tourist trap. With very good ice cream. Two single scoop cones will cost you $7. This is a bit more than a bit too much for me. The ambiance is great (if you like that sort of crazy stuff) - but, I think the $$ really hurt us.
(3)Mark B.
We were vacationing in the area and stumbled upon Oink's. It's awesome... no other way to describe it... it's very overwhelming when you walk in from the number of choices when it comes to ice cream... check it out if you are in the area!
(5)Paige C.
this is the sweets place avoid all other ice cream oink oink little pig! This place is awesome, and I discovered it on Yelp the first time I was in New Buffalo. The ice cream is top notch, and I'm not even that big of a fan of ice cream! If you feel like being economical in your ice cream consumption or have a giant family like me, go for one of the pints or quarts and just get 4 or 5 different types of ice cream. Also, lemon-lime sorbet--life changing. That might be an exaggeration, but truly, for the moment I ate the ice cream after a long day at the beach, my life felt changed. They also have a huge amount of candy to buy, and some pretty flattering photo opps (e.g. anthropomorphic piggies with their faces cut out...)
(5)Jenny K.
Simply awesome! I can't believe I didn't find this place till towards the end of my trip! I am definitely going back next summer! The ice cream is so creamy and good. They offer samples of all their ice cream. I ordered two half scoops, which is one scoop. The decor is whimisical and definitely kid-friendly. Go early because the lines can get super long!! Also, don't forget to grab a number!
(5)Dennis L.
I found a new "must stop" location when traveling between Michigan and Chicago. I never expected to find such a great ice cream treat in New Buffalo, MI. The place is decked out in pig paraphernalia (just in case the name didn't give it away). I actually left Oink's not feeling like a pig after enjoying the delicious low fat butter pecan ice cream. I can't wait to return on my next trip.
(5)Claire Y.
Our last stop on our spontaneous day trip to New Buffalo was Oink's for some good ol' icecream-lovin'. Luckily, on our particular visit, the wait was not insane. Upon taking our #, we were called to the counter right away. Then the 10-minute ordeal began: what flavors to choose??? Our server was oober friendly, informative, and patient with us. She helped us narrow down our choices to 4 most distinigushed flavors. We walked out with two waffle cones full of two flavors each and went our merry way. Hands-down, the BEST icecream I've had to date. I really hope I return to New Buffalo for some more Oink's Dutch treats.
(5)Amy S.
The key lime is quite good! I don't think I would get the cherry again if I'm in the area. The portions were very generous and the prices were a bit high but again, you did get big portions. The line moves quickly and they have numbers just like a deli does so make sure to get a number before debating over what you want to get!
(4)Mike S.
cute (and cluttered) creamery with lots of flavors and huge servings. was asked if i wanted full or half scoops.....wasnt sure so naturally chose full. still have a side ache 4 hours later. you can probably settle for half scoops. good stuff though. the pistacio seemed to be a bit hit as 3 or 4 people ordered it while we were there. the parking lot spots are all labeled quite funny, worth a drive through just to read them all.

I always think of Oink's in October because my favorite part of trick-or-treating growing up was stopping in for a free cone! minus a star cause it's expensive.
(4)Carly L.
My boyfriend and I stopped here on Tuesday while in town on vacation. The shop is very kitschy and has a ton of memorabilia all over the walls. The ice cream selection is plentiful. I had the grasshoper while my boyfriend had the strawberry. Both were very tasty. However, the price is a little steep. Two sugar cones with one scoop each cost $6.50. I guess Oink's is just a little New Buffalo place that you have to stop at (like Redamak's) while you are there. They also have a little gift shop attached in the back that sells homemade candy and fudge. I would recommend this as a tourist stop while in town on vacation. However, I would only recommend it as a once a vacation stop since it is a little on the pricey side for ice cream.

This is the sort of place for which ice cream and small towns were invented. Or wait, maybe this place was invented for small town ice cream? Either way, Oink's has the mastery of the local ice cream scene and thank god for that. They're only open seasonally which makes my year-round stays in New Buffalo a little sad in the winter (YES, I will eat ice cream in the winter while blasting the heat. My carbon footprint is more like a full-on snow angel those days). They also only accept cash which I can't fault small independent businesses for these days. Have you even SEEN how much credit card companies charge for processing?? The paint scheme of the place is not only visible from down the street but also possibly from space. This only serves to sharpen my laser focus on the delicious treats inside. Shove aside some tourists and random pig paraphernalia, head up to the counter and grab yourself a ticket. Some Yelpers have complained about the "craziness" and lack of a line but I think it adds to the small town charm. If you want your orderly lines, sullen employees, and predictable menu, this is not the place for you. And really, the other reviews exaggerate. I know, that never happens on Yelp ever. What I love about this place is the quality of the product, the cheerful atmosphere, the closeness to the town itself, the smiling people behind the counter, and the customizations available. They will literally do any ice cream related thing you ask for. Except for that one involving the kittens. Stop suggesting that. A hand packed pint of chocolate mint mixed with peppermint patty goodness is amazing as is the brownie-studded chocolate. Seriously, just go and get in line.

Went in here for ice cream during a recent visit to New Buffalo. It was packed and we took a number. However there were so many people you couldn't walk around and look at the ice cream flavors. They were listed on the wall but I like to look at the containers to see what is in each flavor. The prices were steep, but our big problem was it had a yucky smell and seemed like it needed a good thorough cleaning. Also their sorbets say "May contain traces of milk" which I assume is from using the same scoops on the sorbet as the ice cream. Our daughter is dairy allergic so we decided to head to the grocery store for some soy ice cream which we knew was safe. But secretly I was happy to have an excuse to leave, because I really did not feel comfortable with the cleanliness of the place.

Crazy great ice cream shop. A must stop while in the area. The girls will get blue moon, or superman. I love the blackberry. Every size and shape available.
(5)Stefanie S.
If you go to New Buffalo, this place is a MUST. If you love pigs, you'll be in hog heaven- literally. It's got a great feel and the ice cream is unique and there's so many flavors. Kid or adult, you'll LOVE it.
(4)Steve H.
Good ice cream, good service, awesome-fun-weird atmosphere. If you visit New Buffalo you need to get inside this place.
(4)Matthew H.
Been going here for over 20 years, always a fantastic way to end a day in New Buffalo!
(5)Melissa K.
Fun place, great service and great ice cream. Going back

I've been coming to oinks since I've been in diapers. Nothing feels like tradition more than hanging out all day at the beach in New Buffalo and then coming here after dinner for some sweet treats! The inside is nothing but charming. The pig trinkets are so cute and the ice cream scoops that cover the ceiling are just darling. And the ice cream, ooooh the ice cream! It's heavenly! Cotton candy confetti has been my flavor ever since I first tried it. I highly suggest giving it a taste. But I've sampled many of their flavors and you really can't go wrong with any of them. If you fancy a malt every now and then, definitely treat yourself to a strawberry one. One of the best I've ever had. My family has stopped vacationing here in the summer but I try to get out to NB for at least a weekend and I never leave without getting my Oinks fix. Oh, and don't be turned off if you go and it is packed inside. The line can be very deceiving but it never takes long to get served. Plus, it's totally worth it.
(5)David H.
What a great Ice Cream Parlor, right down to the obligatory chunky owner, to the cute high school girls that work there, to the awesome selection of everything ice cream related. I remember this girl Blake worked there and I had a real crush on her. One day she came over to my house and we watched Blue Velvet. Needless to say the movie did not get her in the mood to make out. Damn I was dumb in high school!
(5)Erin K.
YUMMMMMMYYYY! I love Oink's. I just went there today. Again. It's so good. Expensive, but delicious. Their selection is great and really unique. My favorites by far are the tiramisu and caramel overload. The tiramisu tastes exactly like the real dessert and the caramel ice cream is rich, but incredible. I love the kitschy decor. The pigs make me smile. I was saddened to see that the Miss Piggy sign in the parking lot wasn't there.... I really hope no one stole it, because it was my favorite place to park. It gets super crowded during the summer, so be prepared to grab a number and wait a while.
(5)Adrian W.
If you like ice cream (sherman's) when you're done with the Warren Dunes, then this place is for you. I got insanely burnt due to my stubbornness, and on on our way out we had decided to swing in here before our trek home. There was no one else in here aside from us, then five minutes later, twenty people show up. I had the cotton candy confetti in the cone and a button, the others had some cups of ice cream and the total was 13.25 which wasn't bad. I mean, yes they don't accept credit cards, but this is basically a summertime place and they need to make due. So take it what it really is, a summertime hang out with solid ice cream that relies on tourists to make it. Yes, regulars do come here but they are often see driving with the cones in hand to their residence, whereas tourists sit on the benches and tables.
(5)Christine B.
This will always be one of my most favorite places on the planet, forever, and ever AMEN! Ever since I stumbled across this place when I got my liscense and did some exploring ages ago, I've been obsessed with Oink's. I don't care if it's 30 below freezing and I have to snow shoe to get here, I must have their ice cream. I've been to a lot of ice cream shops, believe me, and I have the fat butt to prove it, and I have never once tasted treats as good as I've had here. I've never witnessed a place as fun as Oink's either, nor as packed solid with people. If you decide to go, prepare to take a number, but don't worry, they move people through the line pretty fast. I always get a single in a waffle cone, which is huge anywawy. Their grasshopper ice cream is to die for. This place is a summer tradition. Avoid crowds by going during the day or during the week. During the summer, it's always packed with tourists from Chicago. But it's worth it. This place will always have a very special place in my heart.
(5)C Y.
Oink! Oink! Oinks is the place to be. Oinks is a good treat, one scoop feels like 4. A main shop, a walk up window and a small candy and toy store too. You may be fooled by crowds, but the ice cream comes fast. There may be an obsession with pigs, however, if your a where's walod fan try to find the bear.
(5)Julie H.
Oink's has an obsession with pigs TOO!!! They also LOVE their frozen concoctions! Could a Ice Cream shop over 90 miles away feel like home? OH YES! This quaint place offers reasonable prices for quick service and filling portions.Oink's makes me wish I traveled to the Great Lakes State more often: basking in the Pig-orablia while enjoying a tasty lick of Amaretto Cherry! Make it a stop of yours on the way back from Warren Dunes because Oink's will definitiely hit the spot after a sun-soaked afternoon!
(5)Ruth H.
My husband and I went to Oink's twice during our 5 day honeymoon stay in New Buffalo, Michigan. It was that good! Their ice cream is just fantastic! When you drive by Oink's there seems to be such a large crowd. If you think it's crowded outside, just wait till you go inside the shop. It is PACKED! I understand why! It's worth taking a number and waiting in the bunch. The ice cream that I ate there was the yellow cake ice cream which was so yummy with the hot chocolate fudge folded inside and chopped chocolate chips. Such a special treat.
(5)Walt M.
Ice Cream!! Ohhhhh...this place reminds me of what I imagine those classic 1950's places would look like, with the chatchke toys, signs, and other great shtick items that you see on Antique's roadshow. Friendly service and a great variety of ice cream and toppings. I would love to try all of them. Awesome ice cream....for a late, after-visiting-the-beach treat! I will be returning here for dessert, after visiting New Buffalo's other staple, Redamak's, of course.
(5)Kristen S.
Super delicious and a fun place to stop while you are in Harbor County! I had the peppermint ice cream, which tasted like heaven on a hot summer day. My husband had the Oink's version of the McDonald's McFlurry, with Oreo cookies mixed in and he loved it. The ambiance is fantastic - different pig and ice cream toys all over, service is quick and efficient, prices typical of an ice cream shop. Parking can be a little tricky, though. The lot is small. If you have kids, this is a must-see in Harbor County!
(4)Michael D.
This shop has perhaps the largest pig chatzki collection I've ever seen...As well as a terrific collection of vintage ice cream cartons, displayed throughout the place. They also have an ice cream I've never seen before: triple caramel -- caramel ice cream with caramel swirls with caramel chips. Creamy, dense and, as you'd expect, caramely. A very generous single scoop, too. Out in the parking lot, each space has a different pig name (we parked in the "sow" spot). Well worth making a U-turn on your way to wherever you're going, like we did.
(4)Cristina T.
Delicious, creamy ice cream! I got the praline pecan & chocomania. They serve Sherman's ice cream here, which uses high quality ingredients, therefore resulting in delicious ice cream! Although its a little on the pricey side, Oink's is worth the splurge(and calories)!
(5)Jessica D.
Very good hand dipped ice cream in a small beach town. The place has a lot of flare on the walls and in the parking lot so it makes it fun to look at all the fun stuff. This place is cash only though, so bring out the old school method of payment everybody!!
(4)Lyssa P.
Quirky and charming. Definitely worth a visit while you're in town. Its just a 15 min walk from the beach. Tip: you can get half scoops to mix flavors!
(3)Amanda S.
I love Oinks!! I've been four times in two trips to Union Pier, Michigan! The ice cream is delicious, the prices are great and the staff are really nice. You can't beat the kitschy decor either! It's fun and creates a great atmosphere. There are lots of flavors to choose from and it's definitely good ice cream! Can't wait to return someday!
(5)Ruta T.
Great Ice Cream! You must stop by while in town and see all the piggies.
(5)Gracee W.
My goodness! I absolutely, positively LOVE Oinks! We pulled up on a Monday evening at 8:45pm, and the place looked packed! As we were walking in, we needed to grab a number. My mother, of course, hates crowds, and was very ambivalent to go inside. But, our number was called 30 seconds after we walked in! We tasted a million things, every small-spoonful better than the next! My brother, father, and I all got single scoops with two different flavors. They gave us SO much ice cream, for a measly $3.50 per person, and it was DELICIOUS. We sat down inside, unfortunately the outside was wet because of the recent rain--but that was not a problem, because as we ate our tasty treat, we got to take in the amazing atmosphere of PIGS! There were tons of trinkets, everything you could possibly think of, plus a pig. I will most definitely be back. One words for you all--OINK!
(5)Dodd V.
Wow, what a cool place to go for ice cream. We just stopped in by chance while driving by, not even intending to make a stop at all in New Buffalo and I am glad we did. Good ice cream, interesting building and decoration, friendly staff. What is not to like? I can't see faulting this place as a result of its success. Any really good place is going to be popular, and that will generate lines in most cases. Being a holiday weekend, it was pretty busy when we stopped in but the wait was reasonable and the staff seemed to be moving as quickly as reasonably possible. Again, I won't fault them for being successful. Great ice cream, lots of choices. If you are in the area, this is a great spot to stop.
(4)Amy W.
Sherman's Ice Cream in the house!!! I worked here for one day back in high school until I determined that scooping ice cream was not my forte. But don't get me wrong - this place is awesome, and a favorite for everyone in the area. Oinks gets packed out on summer weekend evenings as every parent in the immediate area seems to bring their slew of rug rats in for some ice cream. On the opposite end of the scale, octogenarians seem to dig this place as well. Don't forget to take a number when you arrive or else the wait for the ice cream could stretch into eternity and that would be uncool. Bonus: the Blue Moon ice cream turns your poo green!
(4)Rich A.
Been coming to New Buffalo since the 1970's and have had plenty of ice cream from Oink's. They have all the flavors, and serve premium ice cream. Save some room after your dinner in New Buffalo, and come on over for a double scoop.
(5)David L.
This place is a must-try if you are in the area. It is a quirky small-town place with a cute atmosphere and home-made ice cream. The sweets are REALLY sweet, however, and likely to raise your cholesterol to dangerous levels. I liked the ice cream, but I'm used to gelato and frozen yogurt. You will not find healthy fare here! It's called OINKS! It's heavy, super-sugary dutch ice cream. I'll go back to get my 8-year-old an ice cream sometime soon, but I doubt that I will have one myself--maybe so, but I'll skip lunch first!
(4)Lisa B.
Cute little place with lots of delicious ice cream. They had a really large 10 scoop sundae that they serve you in a popcorn tub for $20. I only tried a scoop of the chocolate almond and a scoop of the chocolate peanut butter. Both were really good. This place only accepts cash.
(4)Julia W.
Meh. I guess I'm not that big a fan of Sherman's Ice Cream. I mean, it's good (it IS ice cream, isn't it?), but it's nothing fantastic, especially for the price and for the time you spend waiting in line. Oink's gets crazy busy during high season in New Buffalo and while I love looking at antique ice cream scoopers for a half hour as much as the next person, I think I'd rather go to Graziano's in Three Oaks for a tasty mess of ice cream at a lower price. I would recommend giving Oink's a try at least once, especially if there's no line. It's cool to check out the decor and see what all the hullaballoo is about--afterwards, though, I just don't think it's a necessity. And trust me, I am of the mind that ice cream is a necessity.
(3)Jennifer W.
Oink's is an awesome treat! The look of the place is enough to get you to venture out and see it. They have Green River, which is an excellent drink. We love this place & make it part of our Michigan journey every summer!
(5)Nick P.
Oinks has been a part of my life since the day it opened over 20 years ago. I love the flavors, I love the scene, I love it all. Try some of the flavors before ordering never know which new one your going to love! My favs... Yellow cake batter, cotton candy confetti, blueberry lowest cheesecake, grasshopper & birthday remix!
(5)Grace L.
Get your ice cream fix and pig fix here. What? An ice cream place that does not pay homage to cows? Yes, pigs are the display item/repetitive decor here. It's exactly what you want on a hot day...lots of flavor choices and quick, courteous service. Since we are out of towners here, we came for the small town feel and comfort. This was the laid back comfort creamery that you would expect and want. I got the key lime pie ice cream and it was pretty good...large scoops. Plenty of sporadic seats around the store to sit at. Or...sit in your car and read all of the pig themed parking signs.
(4)Talia B.
Whenever my family visits Michigan, I get super excited to go to Oinks restaurant! Let me just say that this isn't any ordinary ice cream restraint. The first thing you think of when you open the door aspics"PIGS!" This ice cream place has about- I don't know- 8,000 pig items! They have a wide variety of ice cream as well! You've gotta come to this place!!!!
(5)Becky F.
Hello, food heaven. Simply put, Oinks serves some of the best ice cream I've ever had. Whenever I am up on Lake Michigan, this is on the go-to list. Also, Oinks serves one of the largest small ice cream cones I've ever seen in my life. I've had to start ordering a kid's cone because I can't finish a small! Tasty tasty treat.
(4)Maria S.
Good ice cream - Sherman's - friendly staff. Kid's scoops, too. Solid spot for a treat.
(3)John V.
yummy food, friendly staff who chatted with us while we stared at their impressive pig and ice cream related kitsch. She also let us into the candy/gift store. Well decorated parking lot and outside of building as well.
(5)Nomad M.
Lots of history hear on the walls with antique ice cream scoops, old menus, old time ice cream cartons etc. Nice candy store in the back and antique cars on the lot!!
(5)Maria R.
Everyone really really loves Oinks - except me. My family loves to drop by and invariably we run into families we know and it's fun to visit with them, but I am only going to give it 3 stars because I don't love their ice cream, and I don't love the super huge lines out the door on the weekends (take a triple digit number, please!) and all the commotion. They have a million little pigs on display in all mediums on the walls as well as other memorabilia, so it's actually a cute little place, but I prefer Bobtails' homemade ice cream in Chicago. Call me an ice cream snob, already, but I like to pick and choose my calories.
(3)L. R.
Fun place. Great ice cream. Cool little shop. What's not to like? I love Blue Moon ice cream and they have it.
(5)Ali D.
Oh, how I love Oink's. I am sentimental about it, as I remember coming as a child and through high school with friends when we'd be out in New Buffalo, and with family when we in the area. While I don't get to New Buffalo as often as I used to, Oink's holds a special place in my heart and I'll always return! The ice cream is good and the place has so much character. The crowds can be bad in the heat of the summer, but worth the wait for some good ice cream and good times.
(4)Cindy B.
Love this place! Came in from DFW and headed straight for New Buffalo and Oinks! Devoured the Toffee Fantastic, yum! Sampled the chocolate cake batter....so hard to decide!

Oink!
(4)JR W.
Very branded joint with pink pigs everywheeereee. Killer cones here, but bring cash and bring a LOT of it! Bring your girlfriend here, because if she finds about this place after you've rolled through, you're in trouble :P
(4)Pamela W.
Ah-mazing!
(5)Cindy B.
Love this place! Came in from DFW and headed straight for New Buffalo and Oinks! Devoured the Toffee Fantastic, yum! Sampled the chocolate cake batter....so hard to decide!
(5)Li S.
(3)Kelly K.
(4)Jim T.
(4)Lauren P.
(3)Shannon B.
Love Oinks ice cream! You can easily run out of things to do in New Buffalo but I recommend ice cream at Oinks, a visit to Hesston steam museum, and a trail or pony ride at Stateline Stables (everything is within 8 miles of each other)
(5)Dave S.
(3)Kitty W.
(4)Ericka A.

The ice cream was good both times I went. The coconut almond fudge(almond joy) was rich and chocolatey. The yellow cake butter was good, a little sweet but still good. The waffle cone was crisp and delicious both times as well. If you like rich, hard ice cream this is your place.

Average ice cream at high prices. The servers try to be friendly but the constant rush of people seems to wear them down. Had a great chocolate shake (super thick) but took 5min to make it. If you're heading up to St Joe's, Kilwin's ice cream is much, much better.

Simple review. The no sugar added flavors Butter Pecan and Cherry Vanila are actually good, and will keep you on the wagon if you need to be.

This is a nice place go get some ice cream but not when there is a line of 40 people in front of you. Went to saugatuck last weekend and they had the same exact ice cream... No surprise. However, it is good ice cream.

It can get a little crowded with log lines sometimes depending on what time you're there.

stopped in here on our Family Vacation to New Buffalo! Yum!

THIS PLACE IS A MUST-STOP WHEN YOU GO TO NEW BUFFALO! I have never been disappointed with any of the flavors and their servers are very attentive. I want to go back right now. I can't wait!

I loved it.
